Shreeji Maharaj left home at the young age of eleven and started a journey of salvation for the liberation of infinite beings.

Nilkanth Varni completed the trek to the Lojpur and first met Sadguru Muktananda swami.

In Pipalana, Sadguru Ramanand swami and Nilkanth Varni first met.

Nilkanth Varni received Maha-Diksha through Ramananda swami and assumed the name Sahajananda Swami.

At Jetpur, Ramanand swami anointed Sahajanand swami and handed over his succession.

Lord Swaminarayan proclaimed the Swaminarayan Mahamantra of His own accord in the town of Faneni.

Shriji Maharaj initiated 500 Paramahansas in the town of Kalvani together.

Sadguru Gopalanand swami took Maha-Diksha through Lord Swaminarayan.

The writing work of Shriji Maharaj's Vachanamrut, based on His preaching, started.

Bapashree gave Jethabhai (HDH Bapji's Father) blessings for two sons, with the condition that "One is yours, One is Ours". The ‘One is Ours' is none other than our very own Guru, HDH Bapji.

Bapashree independently withdrew from this world.

1933

To propagate the principles of ‘Karan Satsang', Our Gurudev Bapji manifested in the village of Vasan, located in the Viramgam taluka of Gujarat, India. As per Bapashree's wish, the name ‘Devubhai' was given to him.

Sadguru Ishwarcharandasji swami independently withdrew from this world.

1944

Sadguru Vrundavandasji swami independently withdrew from this world.

1952

Devubhai met Sadguru Muniswami for the first time.

1953

As part of pre-planning and Maharaj’s Sankalp, Devubhai prayed to his Guru for the manifestation of a successor to Karan Satsang. Sadguru Muni Bapa, having been pleased by the prayer, gave the blessings for HDH Swamishri to manifest into this world.

1956

Gurudev Bapji took Bhagwati Sant Diksha and assumed the name 'Sadhu Devanandandasji’.

1959

Our Beloved Ghanshyam (HDH Swamishri) manifested into this world in the village of Daduka, located in Anand taluka of Gujarat, India, by the blessings of Sadguru Muni Swami.

1968

Gurudev Bapji obtained the principles and ideologies of ‘Karan Satsang’ from Sadguru Muni Swami. In doing so, Our Guru became the spiritual successor of Sadguru Muni Swami and the divine lineage of Sadgurus originating from Sadguru Goplanand Swami known as the ‘Amir Pedhi’.

1969-70 

To initiate the worldwide propagation of the supreme principles of Lord Swaminarayan and Bapashree, our Guru started an assembly beside the Maleksaben stadium in the region of Bapunagar. Also, the Shilanyas Ceremony of the Ghanshyamnagar temple was held at Odhav, Ahmedabad.

1974

In hopes of fulfilling the wish of Lord Swaminarayan, our Guru created the first temple in the entire Sect with only the Murti (idol) of Lord Swaminarayan. The temple is located in Ghanshyamnagar and is the foundation of pure Upasana (Faith).

Sadguru Muni swami independently withdrew from this world.

1976

Our organization published the first issue of 'Ghanshyam' Magazine.

1978

Gurudev Bapji met with beloved Ghanshyam (HDH Swamishri) for the first time in the Kalupur temple.

1979

To give strength to Devotees in urban areas, Gurudev Bapji started assemblies in a house on Lambeshwar Street, Ahmedabad.

1980

Gurudev Bapji's favorite disciple and spiritual successor, HDH Swamishri, was initiated as a saint named 'Sadhu Satyasankalpdasji'. The name means that all wishes (Sankalp) Swamishri makes will come true (Satya).

1981

In celebration of 200 years since the manifestation of Lord Swaminarayan, the ‘Swaminarayan Dwishatabdi Mahotsav' was held at the Ghanshyamnagar temple.

1982

For the propagation of the principles of Lord Swaminarayan and Beloved Bapashree, Our Gurudev Bapji freed himself from the obligations and bonds of the entire sect.

1984

The Decade of Ghanshyamnagar temple was celebrated. On that occasion, HDH Swamishri went on his first spiritual tour in the Panchmahal region and organised Satsang programs in 29 villages.

1986

The second pure temple of worship was formed at Isanpur, Ahmedabad.

1987

The very first ‘shikharbadh' temple with pure ‘Upasana' (faith) was inaugurated at the sanctified place of Vasna, which also marks the establishment of SMVS.

1993

As a pre-phase for the 150-year celebration of Jeevanpran Bapashree, 'Bapashree Mahotsav' was held at Lunawada, Gujarat.

1995

To celebrate 150 years of Jeevanpran Bapashree, the famous ‘Jeevanpran Abjibapashree Shardh Shatabdi Mahotsav' was celebrated. This massive undertaking was accomplished with just 15 of our sants.

For the first time, Gurudev Bapji & HDH Swamishri traveled abroad to London, England, and planted the seeds of ‘Karan Satsang’ in foreign lands.

1996

For the very first time, Gurudev Bapji & HDH Swamishri traveled to America and Kuwait to lay the seeds of ‘Karan Satsang'.

2001

For the spiritual and social growth of women worldwide, female sants were initiated into the sect under the name ‘Bhaktiniwas' by the inspiration of Gurudev Bapji.

The grand Swaminarayan Mahamantra bicentennial (200 Years) festival was celebrated at Swaminarayan Dham, Gandhinagar.

Swaminarayan Dham, located in Gandhinagar, was inaugurated and established as the headquarters of SMVS.

To develop spirituality, morality, and education, and preserve our culture in children, 'SMVS Swaminarayan Dham Gurukul' was established at Swaminarayan Dham, Gandhinagar.

The very first pure ‘Upasana' (faith) temple on foreign lands was inaugurated in Jersey City, New Jersey, marking this the first step in making Karan Satsang worldwide.

The Bicentennial Festival of the Vachanamrut was celebrated grandly.

For the proper management of the entire SMVS organization, specialized departments were established.

In celebration of 75 years of the manifestation of Gurudev Bapji, an 'Amrut Parva Shibir' was held.

As part of the SMVS’ Silver Jubilee celebrations, foundation laying ceremonies and construction projects were initiated for 29 temples.

For the proper spiritual and overall development of aspirants aspiring to become a saint, a training center named ‘Sadhak Talim Kendra' (STK) was established.

To nurture young female students, ‘SMVS Swaminarayan Dham Girls Gurukul' was established at Swaminarayan Dham, Gandhinagar.

The Adarsh Bal Sabha (ABS) instilled in today's children the highest ideals of Satsang and Sanskar from childhood.

Gurudev Bapji announced Beloved HDH Satyasankalpdasji Swamishri, a satpurush, as his spiritual and overall successor.

A future vision of an integral project of SMVS called ‘Karan Satsang University’ was announced.

As part of the preliminary planning for the ‘Karan Satsang University’, a quality-based project, Adarsh Yuva Project was launched.

In the completion of 25 years since the establishment of SMVS, a grand celebration, ‘SMVS Silver Jubilee Mahotsav' was held.

For the proper spiritual and overall development of females aspiring to become a female saint, a training center named ‘Sadhak Talim Kendra' (STK) was established.

To help clarify the principles of Karan Satsang as explained by Our Guru, the compressed scripture ‘Swaroopnishta' was released. Both Gurudev Bapji and HDH Swamishri took a personal interest in the creation of the book to ensure its accuracy.

The SMVS Charities Trust was established to benefit and manage social and creative activities for people worldwide.

The 'Constitution of SMVS' was composed to preserve its ideals, morals, and principles for hundreds and thousands of years to come and to make sure they never deviate from these foundations.

For the upholding of the commands of Lord Swaminarayan for sants, and to make sure that sants can follow these commands today and for centuries to come, the ‘Sant Constitution' was composed.

The headquarters of North America was established at Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The purpose of this HQ is to streamline activities, events, and materials in all the temples found in North America.

At the location where Our Beloved Bapashree originally manifested, Baldia, a shrine was built to honor and recognize his great deeds.

Sankalp Bal Sabha (SBS) project started for children who want to live life for Shreeji Maharaj.

A special group, known as ‘Chhatralaya', was created for the spiritual protection of youth engaged in studies.

To serve the people, the monumental achievement of creating an affordable hospital with the latest technology and certified doctors was completed. It is known as ‘SMVS Swaminarayan Hospital'.

A book with the talks of our Beloved Gurudev Bapji was created, containing the important fragments found in His discourses. This book titled ‘HDH Bapji ni Amrut Vato - Part 1" was released in His presence.

Gurudev Bapji chose to withdraw his physical form from this world. However, he forever resides in Swaminarayan Dham, Gandhinagar, through his divine form and gives blessings to all that come.

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Vachanamrut scripture, the Vachanamrut Bicentennial Festival was celebrated at Swaminarayan Dham in Gandhinagar.

A divine peace‐recital ritual place (Shantipath) was inaugurated at Gurudev Bapji’s room where he resided at the Vasna temple.

Following Gurudev Bapji’s withdrawal of physical form, HDH Swamishri declared both the Godhar Boys Gurukul and the Swaminarayan Dham Girls Gurukul to be tuition-free, offering two tokens of social service at Gurudev Bapji’s feet.

To celebrate 175 years of Jeevanpran Bapashree, the ‘Jeevan Pran Abji Bapashree Amrut Mahotsav’ was celebrated online.

The SMVS Swaminarayan Hospital City Center, was inaugurated at Vasna.

During Gyansatra-17, HDH Swamishri consecrated the name Anadimukta Vishvam and, for the first time, publicly proclaimed Shriji Maharaj’s resolution. Land was acquired for Anadimukta Vishvam.

To enable every aspirant to attain the final state of spiritual liberation, HDH Swamishri lead the initiative—symbolically placing the kalash (brass pot) to establish the universal liberating Anadimukta Vishvam. The foundation-laying ceremony was celebrated with great grandeur.
