Service in Times of Crisis

Modern science has brought remarkable progress and made our lives easier in many ways. Yet, when nature reveals its fierce power, even the most advanced technologies can fall short. Natural disasters such as earthquakes, droughts, floods, tsunamis, and cyclones often strike unexpectedly, causing destruction and leaving people vulnerable and overwhelmed. These crises are felt by communities throughout the world.

In these moments of need, SMVS rises to the occasion. Driven by compassion and selfless service, their volunteers and sants work tirelessly to reach affected villages and cities. They provide immediate aid—comforting, protecting, and supporting those in distress.

SMVS has a strong record of responding to major natural disasters. One significant instance was the devastating 2001 earthquake in Gujarat, which caused widespread damage across the state. SMVS initiated relief operations in several districts including Kutch, Surendranagar, Ahmedabad, Banaskantha, Patan, and others. Volunteers delivered essential items such as food packets, clothing, utensils, grains, cooking stoves, and ready-to-eat snacks like sukhdi and chevdo. In Kutch alone, a dedicated team of saints and devotees distributed over 125 tons of supplies.

Across various relief missions, more than 10,000 trained SMVS volunteers have participated with full dedication. Always prepared to serve, they exemplify humanitarian service and spiritual care. Their efforts have brought comfort and hope to countless individuals throughout the world, making SMVS a beacon of help in times of crisis.
