Tribal Welfare
  1. Lifting Up Tribal Communities
  2. Panchmahal, a region rich in forests and hills, is home to over 1,200 villages with large tribal populations. For decades, this area suffered from deep poverty and limited access to education. As a result, many tribal families fell into cycles of addiction, superstition, theft, and violence.

Bringing positive change to this region was no easy task. In 1985, Gurudev Bapji personally traveled across Panchmahal, spreading a message of hope and transformation. Inspired by his guidance, many began to abandon harmful customs and embrace lives rooted in honesty, values, and spirituality. In 2005, a magnificent temple was built in Godhar—a symbol of spiritual progress in the region.

Under the leadership of HDH Swamishri and the sants of SMVS, these efforts have expanded dramatically. Even in the most remote areas, SMVS regularly conducts social and spiritual activities. Many tribal families who once lived in despair now live with dignity, direction, and purpose.

SMVS hosts a wide range of programs: children’s camps, youth workshops, spiritual celebrations, women’s and senior citizens’ gatherings, and weekly spiritual assemblies. In addition, SMVS runs de-addiction drives and distributes essentials like notebooks, blankets, and shoes. More than 300 tribal villages have benefitted from these services. Temples are being built in several of these communities, serving as local hubs for spiritual development.

Thanks to Gurudev Bapji’s compassion and Swamishri’s continued leadership, SMVS is empowering tribal communities to live better lives—rooted in values, devotion, and spiritual growth.

  3. Abhishek
  4. A Ritual of Peace and Healing

Abhishek, or the sacred anointing ritual, is a powerful practice in the Hindu tradition. Devotees bathe a murti (holy image) with offerings like milk, yogurt, saffron water, and sandalwood paste. In the Swaminarayan tradition, abhishek is more than symbolic—it is a direct way to experience divine presence and inner peace.

For many, participating in abhishek brings a deep sense of relief, healing, and emotional balance. It offers a rare moment of spiritual connection and calm.

To spread the blessings of this ritual, SMVS has established Abhishek Mandirs in Godhar (India), Toronto, New Jersey, London, and other cities around the world. Thousands gather at these sacred sites to experience spiritual renewal.

Gurudev Bapji offered this heartfelt prayer:

"O Maharaj! O Bapa! O Sadguru! If someone comes here with sincere faith and devotion, may their suffering—be it physical, emotional, or financial—be eased. Even when doctors see no hope, bless them with a new beginning."

Just as devotees once experienced Bhagwan Swaminarayan's divine presence in human form through abhishek, today, countless people feel His grace through this same ritual. It strengthens their faith and invites divine blessings into their lives.
